"Lyle Pulliam with His Tailgunner" (S/Sgt. Deston "Duke" Cleland)

Lt. Lyle J. Pulliam, co-pilot on the Paul B. Knapp crew, and Lt. Jackson first became acquainted while classmates in the class of 43F. Pulliam also crossed the Atlantic on board the Queen Mary and was assigned to the 544th Squadron of the 384th Bomb Group. Both the Clayton crew and the Knapp crew flew the historic mission to Berlin on March 6, 1944. Pulliam and Cleland completed their tours of duty with the 384th Bomb Group and returned to the USA.
